Synopsis
by Brett Alan Weiss

Tecmo Super NBA Basketball puts you in total control of the 1992-1993 NBA season. As player, coach, or voyeur (in the computer vs. computer mode), you have all 27 NBA teams (which adds up to a roster of over 320 real players) at your fingertips. You can block shots, steal the ball, commit fouls and turnovers, call time-out, run offensive plays and make substitutions for injured or ineffective players in regular, preseason, All-star and post-season action. While playing this professional basketball simulation, a whole arena full of spectators cheer you on. Sometimes when you drive the lane for a spectacular dunk, step outside to heft a long three-pointer or jump up to block a shot, you are treated to a cinema-type close-up of the action.

Beginning with the crude but effectively 3-D Basketball for the Atari 2600, basketball has been a popular sport for home video game systems. As time went on, and the 8-bit and 16-bit systems came into use, the basketball simulations became more and more realistic, incorporating real player stats, photo-quality pictures and tons of options. Tecmo Bowl for the NES, created by the same company that made this game, began Tecmo's long and storied tradition of fine sports games.
