Synopsis by Anthony Baize This text refers to the Arcade version of this title.Lethal Enforcers II: Gunfighters is the 1994 sequel to Konami's 1992 coin-op shooter, Lethal Enforcers. Game play is similar to that of the original with one big difference: the action takes places in The American West of the late 19th Century. Lethal Enforcers II: Gunfighters has five levels: The Bank Robbery, The Stage Hold-Up, Saloon Showdown, The Train Hold-Up, and The Final Showdown. In each level, you must shoot at the outlaws while dodging their fire and avoid shooting innocent bystanders. At the beginning of Lethal Enforcers II: Gunfighters, you have three to five life units (badges), depending on the default settings of the machine you are playing. Players pick up additional badges for certain scores throughout the game. They can also purchase more life badges by inserting more coins. Shooting an innocent bystander removes one badge as does being shot by a bad guy. Players start each game with the rank of Sheriff. If players kill any innocent bystanders during a level, they will either remain at Sheriff rank or be demoted to Deputy or Posse. Players who complete stages without killing any innocents are promoted to Deputy Marshal and then to U.S. Marshal. The guns in Lethal Enforcers II: Gunfighters are old style six shooters. After squeezing off six shots, players reload by shooting off-screen. In each stage, there are weapons power-ups that players can shoot for better guns. The more powerful weapons include rifles, shotguns, Gatling guns, and cannons. The Gatling guns and cannons can only be drained once, but the rifles and shotguns can be reloaded. Players return to their pistol when they are shot. Players must defeat boss characters at the end of each stage. After defeating the boss in the Final Showdown, the game is over.
